The Essential Guide to Optimal Aftercare for Lash Lifts

Hey everyone,

I’m excited to be covering today's topic of caring for your lashes after a lash-lift treatment, as this is one of my most frequently asked questions in the studio.

I understand how daunting it must feel not knowing exactly what to do to keep your lash lift results looking their best or what products to use after treatment, so we’ll cover all of it in detail here.

I know it’s difficult, but try to avoid rubbing your eyes or touch your lashes too often. Think of it like hair; if you were to get your hair curled and you kept brushing it out, you’d expect the curl to drop. So remember, the less you rub or touch your lashes, the longer the treatment will last, reducing the chances of increasing your lash fallout.

Sleep is an essential step in my well-being routine, and I love nothing more than putting my phone on DND and getting into bed with fresh sheets. And we don’t gatekeep here…. this sleep mask has not only elevated the sleep quality I’m getting but also protected my lashes! The built-in curved memory foam eye cups are perfect because my lashes don’t return to their flattened state.

You know the mantra don’t wait till it's broken to fix it; well, that truly applies to lashes. Maintaining your lashes shouldn’t be hard work, but it does need to be on your self-care to-do list. Here are my top three OG products that I recommend to clients and have seen great results.

Agent Nateur

The leaders of clean & clear beauty. This has delivered transformative results on my clients, that lengthen, regenerate and condition the lash and brow hairs. Using plant-based technology to stimulate hair growth from stem cell level. P.S. It's really long-lasting, too, so the 10ml product is the perfect amount.

Vegamour Volumising Lash Serum

This product is giving! I’ve seen clients have some amazing results growing and thickening their lashes. Additionally, it's hormone-safe and completely vegan!

Hands down, this is easily one of the best serums for lashes and brows I’ve ever seen; it not only lengthens the hair and promotes growth, but furthermore, it doubles up as a great conditioner to keep hair hydrated and healthy!

Olaplex LashBond Building Serum

No doubt you’ve seen the work of Olaplex in hair salons and across your screen on social media; well, they've stepped into the arena of lashes, and they have not disappointed. This serum contains hyaluronic acid, biotin and new peptide technology, which is gorgeous!  If you’ve been the victim of a bad lash lift, ditched lash extensions, or haven't taken much care of your lashes, this is the perfect starting point to help revive them and get them back to good health. This should be on your must-have list; these ingredients are full of nourishment and promote new growth while repairing damaged lashes.

If you’re on a budget, this viral Tik-Tok hybrid coconut and castor oil is a great alternative! Its ability to penetrate the hair follicle means the hair can absorb all the moisture from the inside out and stimulate the hair growth of each individual strand.

Mascara can be a great tool to enhance your lashes after a lash lift treatment, but sadly, it can damage the results in the first 24 hours, so try to avoid using it.  After the first 24 hours have passed, you have the green light to carry on as usual. Although, we recommend opting for a mascara that isn’t waterproof, as they have such a waxy base.

If you wear mascara, you need to be mindful about using gentle products that will lightly lift the make-up off without you applying too much force. We know micellar water is quite the crowd favourite, but we recommend using a hybrid product to make removing your makeup a seamless process. These are our top two recommendations:

Glossier Milky Oil - This bi-phase product is super hydrating and nourishing on the lashes. It melts away eye makeup, conditions lashes, and protects the surrounding skin. The formula is the perfect balance of micellar water and a weightless oil; this buttery blend leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.

Other people who have used the product have said, “This is my favourite eye makeup remover. Waterproof mascara comes off easily without excess scrubbing. Plus, Glossier does not test on animals.”

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Eye Bi-Phase Makeup Remover - This product is extra gentle on the lashes and reduces the chances of lash fallout. A customer who has used the product has said, “I bought it as my eyes were feeling sensitive, and my old make-up remover seemed to be irritating them. It’s gentle yet so effective at removing make-up and cheaper than Lancôme, which was my previous favourite.”

If you’re a wellness girlie and love a steam room, hot yoga or getting facial treatments where they use steam, you’ll need to hold off for 48 hours as that will affect your lash lift longevity as the steam will draw the lashes back down and get rid of the gorgeous c curl that is created during the treatment. It's best to cut down on those steamy situations if you can, to make the most out of your lash lift results.

I hope this helps; if you’re ever in doubt, always reach out.
